Tell us more about you
My name is Julian Ibes. I grew up in South Windsor, a small town in Connecticut. For 12 years of my life I played football, all the way into college. My father is who inspired me to get into the gym and start training. With progress, I fell more and more in love with the process of becoming the best version of myself. Trying to balance bodybuilding and football became more difficult as I started taking bodybuilding more seriously. During my first college season I was faced with an unforeseen injury, and had to decide between the two sports.
I realized it was time for a change. I made the transition to fully commit to bodybuilding. I found a coach, Omar Ventura, and we got to work. My first show was 2019 teen nationals, where I won overall Men’s Physique. My second show was NPC Universe, in 2020, where I placed 11th. I knew there was more work to be done. I worked tirelessly on my weak points, placing me in a position to earn my pro card at NPC Universe the next time around at the age of 21.
Surrounding yourself with those who spark internal growth are key. I would not be where I am today without my amazing coach, and even better friend, Omar Ventura, or without the support from my friends and family who stood by my side through my highs and lows.
